20S Evo motorcycle communication system is a new and improved model that features a variety of impressive updates that work to boost the system’s stability, functionality, and ease of use. In the past, there were complaints with some of the Sena Technologies system’s dropping calls and struggling to connect. ST came in and did a total redesign, working out the bugs to provide users with a system they can really rely on. Their newest product, the 20S Evo comes with all of the bells and whistles found in systems by ST in the past, but this newly designed model offers the latest in helmet speaker technology and better than ever functionality.
Overview and Features
Unlike past models by Sena Technologies, this system comes with a new and improved intercom design, improved stability and a shark fin antenna. The updated antenna design helps to improve the system’s stability and improves intercom distance. This model comes with many of the same features as its predecessor the 20S, with updates to the hardware that improve the systems overall performance.
This newly redesigned intercom system allows bikers to stay in contact with up to eight other users for a range of 1.2 miles.
The speakers are HD quality, providing the type of crystal clear listening experience that’s crucial when you’re out on the road.
HD speakers wouldn’t even matter if the speaker system you’re using on your motorcycle communication system doesn’t have a noise canceling feature. Fortunately, this model comes with an advanced noise control feature that prevents ambient noise from outgoing and incoming audio
This system also utilizes 4.1 Bluetooth technology, combined with the Bluetooth high-quality speakers that provide a crisp, clear, smooth sound.
If you’ve just learned how to ride a cruiser motorcycle, then you need the perfect communication system, one that will allow you to focus on your riding by providing seamless operation and multitasking capabilities. With most communication systems, you have to switch from feature to feature. But that’s where this model shines. You don’t have to worry about fiddling with buttons to switch from one feature to another. This multitasking machine will allow you to stream FM radio stations and use the intercom system at the same time, using GPS navigation, or listening to your favorite playlist.
When you use more than one feature at the same time, it won’t abruptly interrupt a feature, instead, it will smoothly transition.
GPS navigation will help guide you to where you want to go. It can also be used in the background, while you’re using the intercom feature or listening to music. Keep in mind, when you use the GPS navigation it can quickly drain the system’s battery at a much faster rate.
If you’re tired of a complicated device pairing process, then you’ll love the simple shake pairing this model offers. To pair your device with Bluetooth, all you have to do is shake the 20S, it’s that simple thanks to motion sensor technology.
Voice command capability is a must for safety reasons. if you’re tired of pulling over to switch from one feature to another or to answer a call, then you can take advantage of the voice control commands, which allow you to seamlessly answer a call, communicate with your buddies using the group intercom feature, or switch radio stations.
One issue we ran into with this system involved the FM receiver. It doesn’t have the best reception when you’re riding around in rural areas, but this is often par for the course with most systems.
Overall, the newly updated hardware has made this system much easier to use compared to past ST models. In the past, switching from one feature to another involved manually switching, which can be a hassle when you’re out for a ride. Now, using voice commands, you can answer a phone call or the intercom feature while you’re using GPS navigation or listening to music. The manufacturer has definitely worked out many of the bugs people struggled with on past systems.
The UClear AMP Plus Helmet Audio System is one of the ST’s top competing systems, but it doesn’t offer the same type of seamless feature changes that the 20S Evo does. It’s also very limited in terms of the group intercom feature. While this system allows you to stay in touch with up to eight other users, the UClear system only allows for a six-person group chat. If you’re riding around with a bunch of your buddies, this type of limitation can be a deal breaker.
